Personalized desktop Pen-stand with Clock.

It has been too long since I had worked on anything related to art. Recently I bought a desktop pen stand cum clock. But I didn’t like the plain look. I wanted to personalize it so I decided to give it a make over.

For customizing this I got hold of Acrylic Paint which is sometimes also referred as fabric paint. I was able to get hold of Faber-Castell Acrylic colors.

After around an hour of painting the final output was something like this:

It would be nice to add your name or signature using a permanent marker. If you liked my work feel free to share. :D

Check your CIBIL TransUnion Score before applying for a loan.

Are you looking forward for applying for a personal, car or home loan or even applying for a new Credit Card. Then you might want to check your “CIBIL TransUnion Score” to know how likely are you going to get your loan approved by your banking institute. All major banking and financial credit institutes has tied up with CIBIL (Credit Information Bureau (India) Limited) who is playing a major role in the loan approval process.

How does it work?

CIBIL has tied up with various Banks and Financial Credit providers to gather information to evaluate your credit worthiness. Let us see how banks evaluate your credit worthiness.

  1. You apply for a loan
  2. The bank gathers relevant documents from you.
  3. Bank contacts CIBIL to get your CIBIL TransUnion Score
  4. CIBIL gathers all available information about your previous loans and credit card history for the past 3 years.
  5. Evaluates your CIBIL TransUnion Score based on your credit usage and your payment patterns and send it back to the bank.
  6. If the bank finds the score to be good proceeds with processing the loan.

A weekend trip to Alibaug!!!

Bags packed, Snacks wrapped and all geared for having a great time away from the busy city life… Alibaug! A place of which I had heard a lot but never really took the time to visit. I was excited to know that my colleagues were planning to have a team outing to Alibaug. It just got better when they informed that I could bring along Anu and Jaedon along with me.
The plan was leave Friday (4th Feb 2012) evening in a bus and return next day by night. I went to office as usual and Anu and Jaedon arrived at 3:30 PM. We all boarded the bus at around 4:30 – 5:00 PM and headed towards Alibaug.

We reached  The Paradise (Villas & Resorts) by 9:00 PM freshened up and headed towards the town to have dinner by 10:00 PM. We halted at Sanman restaurant to have dinner. They had great varieties of sea food but seems like the vegetarians didn’t get any great options but we had no option since it was already late and it was closing time for the restaurants around Alibaug. We returned to the resort by 11:00 and the ladies went to the respective rooms while the guys spent time around a bonfire till 1:00 AM.

It was a beautiful morning and I had a stroll around the resort taking pictures. The ambiance was superb except for the swimming pool. The swimming pool was dirty and not good enough to have a swim. This was a real disappointment for us who were planning to have a swim that morning. We had to spend the morning just walking around the resort and few played caroms. We had poha and bread butter jam for breakfast. We then freshened up and headed for the Kihim beach.

Kihim Beach, the shallowest sea shore I have ever seen. Quite different than the usual sea shores we have seen. Jaedon was super excited to see the sea and started playing on the beach. There was para-sailing, water sports and horse carts and refreshing tender coconuts. We were back at the resort for our lunch after which we relaxed in the park area of the resort.

We boarded the bus at around 5:00PM to head towards Mumbai. The trip indeed left everyone exhausted but rejuvenated!

Celebrating Onam 2011

It is only appropriate to send Onam wishes to all my friends in Malayalam.

Onam is the largest festival in Kerala. It marks the homecoming of the legendary Emperor Mahabali and also is the harvest festival. In Kerala, streets will be filled with special onam markets and malayalees all around the world celebrates this day grandly. It’s the season for new cloths, great sadya, payasam, and many authentic onam games.

Last years Onam was great and it was Jaedon’s first onam, but this year it was better. It all started from a weeks preparation. We purchased all the groceries and order flowers for the pookkalam couple of days before.
Onam celebrations were in traditional Kerala style. Anu was busy the whole day preparing onasadya. Have to say, it was a tremendous effort by her. Meanwhile I took care of Jaedon, brought flowers that we had ordered and in between tried to help Anu with kitchen stuff. After preparing the onamsadya, Anu joined me to make the pookkalam. Jaedon was naughty in between trying to pick flowers from here and there.
After setting the pookkalam we all freshened up and put on our traditional attire and had onasadya. It was indeed a wonderful onam. Hope you all had a great one too…

Child is the teacher of man!!!

Jaedon is growing up and it is a great experience watching him grow. A fantastic fact in seeing him grow is the lessons you get to learn. There is always something or the other that I get to learn from him. I guess it is only fair to share few things that I had seen many people forget while on their quest for bringing some change to this world.

Forget and Forgive.

There had been situations where I had to scold Jaedon. He then suddenly makes that sad face and goes to his mom. After few minutes he comes back smiling and gives a hug as if he is trying to calm me down. It always made me wonder how fast a child can forget and forgive pains given by others.

Try and Try till you succeed.

He wants to do everything what elder people do. He fails but he never stops trying. He started to walk, speak, eat, etc, etc… He is not worried about the failures. His only aim is to get it done.

To share a smile with the ones around you.

When is the last time you stopped worrying about your job and smiled at the stranger next to you. Some people might think doing it is awkward.

There is always something new to learn.

Jaedon is very observant. He will see a scene in the TV and name the objects that he knows by name. The wonder is that we might have ignored these items. It is only when he points out it comes to our attention.
I am sure there is many things to learn from each other as in when we grow up.

Moving from WordPress to Blogger

Moving from WordPress to Blogger has many advantages and disadvantages.

Things I will miss while moving out of WordPress
There are things that I will miss when moving out of WordPress. Few things that I can remember now are:

  • The page ranks
  • Many links might be still pointing to WordPress site.
  • Larger set of themes as compared to Blogger
  • Statistics
  • Unlimited tags

Things I will gain while moving to Blogger
There are many cool stuff in Blogger due to which I decided to move to Blogger.

  • Pretty easy to use interface
  • Capability to add domain name for FREE
  • Easy integration with Google Adsense, Analytics and other Google products.
  • Speed

How did I do it?

  1. Export everything in WordPress to a file

  2. Convert the Worpress export file to Blogger export file from
  3. Import everything to Blogger
  4. This will add the posts in under “Imported” Category. You will have to make neccessary modifications like
    1. Text formatting
    2. Uploading media files (It will be still using the media files uploaded in WordPress)
    3. Embeds (Slideshare, PicasaWeb, etc.) that will be using WordPress supported format.
    4. Remove all plugins that WordPress supports but not Blogger (e.g. Polldaddy)
  5. Publish the modified posts and Pages and you are LIVE!!!

Redirecting traffic from WordPress
You may have to redirect traffic still coming to WordPress to Blogger. I chose my most popular post and left few starting lines and added a Read More link to the Blogger post.
